In addition, the water is so clear that it offers a great opportunity for divers and snorkelers to discover the beautiful underwater world around the islands. The water is so calm and clear that you have a good chance of seeing all kinds of sea creatures while snorkeling and/or diving.
Besides activities in and on the water, you can also climb on the island. For both beginners and advanced climbers there are possibilities to climb the caves and cliffs. There is also a lot to see on the island by walking. You can admire the beautiful island countryside, or check out the culture in the towns and villages.
Gozo and Comino
Malta also includes the two islands of Gozo and Comino which you can easily visit from your holiday home or apartment in Malta.
On Gozo there are several places where you can enjoy a beautiful view. The citadel in the capital Victoria does have the most beautiful view. The citadel offers views over both the city and the rest of the island.
There is also plenty to see within the walls of the citadel itself. Here you can visit the cathedral of the capital and the prison museum.
You will find several beautiful locations on the island from where to watch the impressive sunset, such as the cliffs at Azure Window or the beach of Ramla Bay. Ramla Bay is one of the most beautiful beaches on the island.
If you want to visit the whole island, you can take your car on the boat to Gozo. On the island itself you can also rent a car, although the island is also worth a day trip on foot.
Comino is a smaller island that lies between Malta and Gozo and where cars are not allowed. On Comino you will find one of the most popular attractions of all the islands: the Blue Lagoon.
In this lagoon you will find water that is a clear blue and where you can snorkel, dive and swim. Unfortunately there is only one small sandy beach, so there is a chance that it will be too busy to sit on but you can always place your towel or chair on the rocks to still enjoy all the beauty of this wonderful lagoon.
The Blue Cave
The Blue Cave (Blue Grotto), is an impressive sight on the south side of the island. This cave is completely natural and turns blue because the light of the sun shines through the clear water on the white sandy bottom.
In the morning this gives the most beautiful picture, because the light falls in exactly the right position. You can reach the cave by fishing boat.
